"The ten most financially sound states in the country are all heavily Republican, while all but one of the ten worst states are heavily Democratic. That’s according to a ranking of states in a new report from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University

The report — “Ranking the States by Fiscal Condition” — used official government data to measure the states’ ability to pay short-term bills and meet longer-term obligations, such as public pensions or health care costs, using five separate measures."

Here's a fun fact to go with that - the ten most financially sound states have a total population of 39.6 million and 73 electoral votes, while the ten least financially sound states have a total population of 104.3 million and 162 electoral votes. How's that going to work out for ya?

It means that the voters in the less financially strong states can outvote the lovers in the more financially strong states.

As long as the lie holds up, pretty good.

But only on the federal level. Each state is mutually exclusive.

I think Texas would have to be in there someplace. Texas HAS to run on a balanced budget. Sometimes it hurts, but it's balanced and never in debt. Now THAT'S a big state for ya.

The report considers both the legislative and the administration branches in its evaluation.

32.6% of the Texas general revenue comes from federal aid - that is NOT a state that is in good financial condition, that is a state that "balances" it's budget on the backs of all the other states!

That would be the rest of us sending money to pay for keeping the illegals out of the country.

No, that is because Texas cannot support themselves. Why do you think they TALK about seceding but never actually DO anything? It's because their government KNOWS that Texas would turn into a third-world sinkhole without all that sweet WELFARE from the rest of the USA. Texas takes approximately $1.40 from the federal government for every dollar that they pay in federal taxes.

Thanks to swarms of illegals who get better perks than our military service people and their families.
