I believe the Black and White image has more dramatic impact.

Black and white for me--I find it more striking.

Just my opinion. B&W highlights stark scenes or even portraits. As an old B&W shooter I often lean that way. But flowers are popular for their color, So I favor the color photo. (but I could be convinced that the B&W is better). My avatar is a color shot, but I also have a B&W version. OK I guess I guess I haven't really answered your question.

For me, the color is best. I agree 100% with Cwilson341.

I am pretty biased toward b&w photography although both are great shots.
The b&w rendition could look better adding some more contrast and perhaps selective burning-in.

Sitting on the fence watching both the color and B&W Iris?

The B/W image has strength, but needs closer cropping.

I think in both photos the background is the weak spot. So the color has much more to offer. With a different shade in the bg I think the black and white could be just as nice.

Very much prefer the colour version, as several others pointed out , the soft variations of colous is al most hypnotic. 👍

Both are good shots. I prefer #2. I reserve B&W for shots that are more delineated by light and shadow or texture. I like to shoot street portraits of the local homeless population at night using B&W PP.........

There is a very delicate beauty to your b&w that is appropriate for the flower. I clicked on the image to view with black background (a custom feature in "My Profile" setup) and it looks soooo much better than both the mustard yellow main page, or the white download. I think this one could be printed and matted in black and be outstanding.

Linda, I hadn't tried the black background on this one but you are super right. It makes a world of difference. It almost looks like a different version of the shot.
