I don't want to know what a pc does. I am an Apple person and they do it for me most of the time without fail. I am also sure that there is not a single person that knows everything that a pc will do to you; but rather a collection of poor saps that have been victimized by Microsoft over the years and don't want to come to the light..... lol....

That is why I did not state 'PC or 'Mac'. What I was discussing is true for ALL operating systems. Apple just makes it easier and more intuitive for the user.

Simple solution: open Photos. Select all images in last import folder. Choose File:Export:Export Unmodified Original. You will be able to easily add the exported files to LightRoom.

Process your job.
Now figure out what changed.

I am a recent Apple iMac user and have the same problem with Apple Photos. As soon as I connect SD card to laptop, Photos starts to upload. My solution: open PSE before connecting SD card, then import into PSE. Once your images get into Photos, they are useless, unless you only want to share them with others.

Anthony,

Use the Mac's "Image Capture" utility to download your picture files to a folder on your hard disk. From there you can easily import them into any program (including Lightroom and Photos) that you wish. After importing them into another program, you can erase the folder from your hard drive or keep it for backup.
