http://petapixel.com/2014/02/24/invisible-laura-williams-talks-viral-surreal-self-portrait/If you read the photographer's notes, she claims that this was completely a self made portrait, the result of a single carefully laid out shot. At least it "seems" like that's what she's saying... can't tell for sure.
Having played with CGI (Computer Generated Images) and Ray Tracing in the past and therefore being "picky" about "artificial realism", I was looking at the "details" of this photo, and because of the "inconsistency of too much consistency" of shadow and light, including missing reflections, I believe this was all created in Photoshop, or something similar, using a full "blue screen" method merging two completely separate images into one.

She talks about the issue of focusing since she is all alone and she freely admits she post processes the images. To what extent we can't be sure. Which part are you doubting? Perhaps, unlike most folks here, she is just a talented artist. I have no doubt that the main concept is legit and she cleans it up in post.

I have to agree. If you look you will see a dark line in the grass about 2/3rds of the way up in the mirror. The line goes across the lawn including through the mirror. What are the chances of lining up something like this in a reflection? Also, while the mirror is tilted down, there is no reflection of any of her legs in the mirror.
Perhaps in this case, there is no glass in the frame, and PS work has eliminated any part of her body within the frame area. All credit to the young lady, she has a creative flair, why try to rain on her parade.
It doesn't matter one way or the other. It's a pictorial and not journalism, so anything goes! Including any amount of PP. no explanations necessary.
It's not about how it's created, what's important is the creativity and the concept. ;-)

I would say clever Laura and it does show that she obviously has an artistic mind even if she had a bit of help from Photoshop, but she must be given credit for however it was achieved.
Nothing better than a transparent woman! :)
There is more of her work here
Laura Williams I like it, it would be very difficult to do as a single shot maybe not impossible. As two shots one of the clearing and one of her in the clearing and then using a mask over the mirror pretty straight forward.
my selfie sooc from a couple of years ago
The mirror pictures are pretty basic and straightforward . You set your camera on a tripod and take a picture of the background. then you stand or sit with the mirror and take another picture. in photoshop you place the mirror image on the top layer and erase the glass.

I agree. Its a great picture regardless of how it was made. The girl has talent.

I suspect that many photographers embellish the creation of an image after the fact.
I've had a few girls say they could see right through me. Always wondered what they meant........
Interesting photo, BTW, no matter how it was done.
I've seen this photo before, but did not know it was a self portrait. Post processing would make this a simple project for a photographer and model, but to set this shot up alone took a lot of patience. Stealing a little background to line up the transparency in post editing (if she did this) is acceptable & fine by me. I rate this excellent!

It looks authentic to me and I see no problems whatsoever with her telling the truth about how it had been accomplished..
