Resizing Many Photos at One time

I have been using the latest version of ViewNX2, to view and resize many images, i.e. 60-100 images, at one time.
The other day, I tried to resize some images, and the program kept crashing. I reinstalled the program, but that didn't help. I also noticed that this "crashing" only happened with this particular file-not any other file.

Is there a free program, that will allow me to highlight, and resize many images at one time. I usually resize the images from 320-750, on the long side. As I mentioned, ViewNX2, has always worked for me, with out any trouble. except for this file. I appreciate everyone's input.

Irfanview with all of the plugins will do that.

I just downloaded and tried Infanview, but it won't allow me to highlight a group of images, at one time. I have to open one image at a time, which is not what I want.

I want to be able to highlight a group of images, and with one click resize them, the way I can with ViewNX2. Thanks.

Why don't you call Nikon Tech and have them walk you through the problem. Beats having to learn a new program!!
Unless the problem is with your computer. Make sure that you have enough memory to do that action. Good luck. ;-)

Thanks. I thought it might be my computer, so I tried it on two other computers, and it did the same thing.

This problem seems to be only with this one file. I thought maybe it was the size of the file, but it's only about 106 MGS. I've done file files much larger than that with ViewNX2, without any problems. Thanks, for your input.

My apologies, Mike. I used Irfanview to convert directories of images from one format to another. The re-sizing I've done in batches was through Adobe Bridge.

I haven't had to do either for some time.

My old canon program was really easy. The newest version not so much, it's a lot like Lightroom.
BUT, if I have even one JPEG file of the same name, mixed in with the Raws, the program just says, "file already exists", and won't do anything. I never figured it out on my own, I had to call tech and was told to look for JPEG in the mix. Of course just click on "choose jpegs". I was stumped for an hour and Tech solved it in 3 minutes!!!
Again call Tech and good luck!! ;-)

Faststone Image Viewer - does selections and batch resizing/renaming/file formatting. And it's free.

Hi I am surprised that you don't have LR? LR will resize batches on export. LR was designed for photographers like you and me that shoot large amounts of shots at a time.

I have LR, but haven't really gotten into using it. I'm used to ViewNX2, and Photoshop, and so far that's all I have needed. When I have time, I guess I'll delve into LR, but for now I don't have the time to start learning a new program , and some of the quirks that LR offers. Thanks for your suggestion. Take care.

Hi Gene,

Thanks. I just downloaded it, and tried it, - and it worked. It wasn't as intuitive as View NX2, but I figured it out.

It's good to know I have another program to "To fall back on," when my "Trusty" ViewNX2 doesn't work. Thanks again. I appreciate your help.
