I already did that, Robert, and no sign of them. I'll keep looking, though. There's a creek not far from the parking lot and last year people told me they saw mom & dad walking the babies down to it. But no sign of them so far anywhere I look!

It sure is, Jan! Well, like someone said, nature can be cruel sometimes.

Their nest was in the middle of a busy parking lot with a strip mall behind it. I've never seen any wild animals around there, Susan.

They never hatched, Lenny. Looked like they mowed the grass right over the last 2 eggs. :(

I've been checking the area, Robert. I may have seen Mama and Papa in an open field; the reason I think this is that I called to them from the car as we were passing by and they really looked. I always called them "Sweetheart" and that's what I called from the car. I don't think I would have gotten that reaction from a "stranger"!

It really did break my heart, Jan! They knew me so well, and I could sit next to the nest and talk to Mama and she was fine. People are all worried about them biting, but they never did!

I'm thinking more along the lines of a racoon getting the eggs, Susan. I don't think the babies hatched. :(

I guess that is nature at its work. Its a shame but thats how it works. I guess you could not move them to a safe place
