That is interesting. Because another man who quotes the same thing says it was found in a drawer.

The point is that the guy did not write it. It was made up by some right wing nut who is attempting to say that one who honors all that he honors is better than one who does not do so. How about all those who were not Christians who died for their country and who happened to be at the same time homosexuals. They are dishonored by this diatribe. This is the kind of stuff the Nazis wrote but about Germans.....

I agree. The man wrote what his heart felt. To say Amen would have been enough. To drag in politics shows deep disrespect.
God bless his soul.
Thanks, Pepper for posting that.

What the hell are you talking about? This was part of a talk this man made to his church group and to put it into context the overall speech was promoting acceptance for those who disagree with conservatism. He was trying to say what he did he hated but he did it for all not just conservatives. This man was trying to promote acceptance something you obviously Know nothing about as you seem to be full of bitterness and anger. You sir are simply messed up.

I believe that same sex marriage is wrong but I don’t believe there should be a law against it as it takes freedom of choice and free will away. I have gay relatives and I love them dearly that doesn’t mean I have to think everything they do is right. By the way I’m not even saying they are wrong I’m saying according to what I believe they are wrong but I am not their judge. I want NO harm to come to any of them and I want them left alone to live according to their own beliefs. Now tell me how that makes me a bigot.

No it does not. Bigotry is like pornography we all know what it is when we see it.

Now that's just a flat out lie, you're just trying to cover your butt now. For someone else to come up with the same thing is very unlikely. I knew the man I quoted quite well and if he was quoting someone else's work he'd have said so. BTW ole sarge for you to make the statements you made not knowing the man or anything about him says much more about you than it does him. You were wrong ole sarge and you're insulting one of the finest men I have ever known.
PS Using a bold faced lie to accuse me of lying is really over the top ole sarge, I know you’re not but you really should be ashamed of yourself.

I apologize. I could have sworn I saw this quote or a paraphrase of it somewhere else. But, I spent this morning looking for it and cannot find it.

By the way, for the most part I agree with what your friend says.

Voltaire said: I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it. I believe this is part of the inspiration for the first amendment.

I agree with the comments in the original post. As a veteran I can relate to every part, except taking the life of another person. As a radar operator/air traffic controller I never had to fight a battle or kill an enemy.

But I served my country for many of the same reasons; as did my grandfather, my father and my uncles, and my son.
