I just read where Botta's Pocket Gophers are common in California (which I see all the time here). I know they are considered a pest,, but I think they're so darn cute! Of course, I live in a condo and don't have to worry about taking care of the landscaping! 😉

HI: The first animal may be a schrew...golfers have fluffy tails. At least in Central Illinois they do. Nice image!

It sure looks like the gophers that ruin my lawn. If I had had the opportunity to take that photo, the next step would have been to dispatch it with a shovel.
