Say hi to this handsome male Dragon Head Katydid (Lesina sp.) from Lupa Masa, Poring, Sabah. Photographed with the Venus Optics - Laowa15mm on a 70D and diffused 270EX on hotshoe.

A mating pair of whip scorpion/vinegaroons (Thelyphonus sp.?). Taken with the Venus Optics - Laowa15mm on a 70D, lit with a single diffused 270EX on hotshoe, night macro, Malaysia.

A beautiful series again as usual. The two of the Dragon Head Katydid are my favorites. What was the working distance on those shots & did you use an led light for focusing on the night shots?

Thanks, MuddyValley. Really wasn't checking how far the working distances were when taking these pics. All i can tell you is that the lens is extremely close to the subjects, even the little green pit viper I photographed. Close enough that it though it could climb onto my diffuser! That katydid was about 3 inches long.

Right! I doubt it's possible to take any 1:1 shot with decent light. How do we light up something that's so close to the lens?
