If the camera is still selling, no, don't expect a price drop.
Canon will probably offer rebates. But if they time it right, all the mklll's will be gone at the release of the mklV.
After they are gone, the refurb will continue on until they are exhausted, maybe up to a year, then all sales will stop.
The mklll is one of the best cameras ever made as is evident by the fact that in EVERY mano a mano, real-world shootout between the mklll vs 810, in spite of the 810 being a generation newer, the Canon ALWAYS came out on top!!!!! Why would YOU put that camera on sale?!?! ;-)

So I could get a 2nd one. :P
Actually B&H has it on sale this week, after discount and rebate $2149
I'm amending this to add that this price is only for today with this promo code BHWPPI16 and for the body only. This is from an email I got this week from B&H in conjunction with the Las Vegas show.

Funny, I've never read or viewed a report where the 5D III was rated better than the D810! Guess we see different reviews! You might want to take a look at this one by a known 5D III enthusiast:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR7Kjeq2aH4&feature=youtu.be BTW the 5D III is on sale:
http://www.adorama.com/l/Cameras/Digital-SLR-Cameras?sf=Price&sel=Model_Canon-5D-Mark-III&term=canon-eos-5d-mark-iii&ShowMsg=tI expect prices to drop a lot more when the 5D IV is announced.
That's what I was thinking (hoping)...would like to know what the IV is going to be before I buy a III, though.

The reason you don't find many printed comparisons between Canon and Nikon is because it is common knowledge that Canon is superior over any other brand, and a waste of time and effort to write about it.
Big Bear:
I totally agree with you. Other brands are wasting their time and energy.
My 1st camera in the early 60's was a Yashika..had it for 3 weeks and traded it in on my 1st Canon F1. Have had most top Canon Cameras since then. But 5 years ago, when I bought this house I sold all equipment and now am trying to get back into photography.

GoB, I'll have to say, I have a lot of respect for enthusiest(your word not mine) like Tony Northrup, Ken Rockwell and Fro etc. etc!!
But I wasn't actually talking about guys with a Blog and trying to sell their wares online through the traffic that they generate.
I was talking about real magazines with some horsepower behind them that actually have editors and testing teams.
Since you obviously don't frequent those publications, I'll give you one such publication to check out.
Google, Digital Camera World, Nikon D810 vs Canon EOS 5Dlll.
This article is very thorough if you're in any way interested. And since you're into links, maybe you can create one for the rest of our friends that might want to check it out as well(a link is beyond my abilities!)!!
GoB, you really don't need to live in that little bubble called UHH!!! Welcome to the reality check!!

I bought all of my gear while I was single.
My wife married me when she found out that my lenses fit her Rebel. She had already owned the house. 8-)

The Canon F-1did not exist until March 1971. I do not think that you traded in a Yashica for one in the early 60's.
Sorry about that...longer than I can remember. And your right, if I would have thought about it more..

It will likely price drop just as the Nikon DX format D7100 did when the D7200 came out. Both cameras are still popular but the D7100 will eventually be on the decline, just as the Canon 5D mark ii has.

That was a CAMERA, no Canon today is built like the F2. It was to compete with the Nikon F (1959-1969).
