It's a nice enough picture but those blades of OOF grass that cross the birds body distract considerably rather than add interest.

With the grasses you've a bird pasted behind a fuzzy foreground!

I'd really suggest looking for another contest entry! Wasn't that your original concern?

I don't know who Hobson is or what they chose, but yes, I was interested in what others thought about it.
It was actually the tall sprigs in front of the bird that I was questioning and not the short grasses. I think if I had stopped down on my aperture a bit more, the grass would be in focus as well as the bird and I would likely have pitched it at the beginning.

Could be interesting to see in actual comparison ... if the desired sharpening is effective. you'd have to start another thread, though, because of the rule for only one image per thread.
