Factory refurbs are indeed a way to go. Several years ago I purchased a Canon 60D refurb from Cameta that served me well for many years.

Thanks to all of you for your input. Just got a Nikon P610 refurbished by them thru Amazon. 90 day warranty and am very pleased so far.
