No you don't need an adapter for the a6000. Because the crop factor of 1.5, it becomes a 36-360mm lens on an a6000.
It is a little heavy for walk around, but the focal length range with my A7Rii makes it quite versatile. In addition, this camera has 3 digital zoom modes that further increase the usefullness. The IQ is good but obviously not as good as with my shorter primes. The speed is adequate.

I don't get it. Sony comes out with a new camera E-mount mirrorless A6300, and later a not released translucent mirror DSLT A68 Alpha Mount in the same year. How long is Sony going to continue the dual mount system?

An excellent question. Another is why have it at all?
Great travel lens. I have used it from Tibet to Greece and most places in between, never had a problem and I am satisfied with the thousands of results. Mine is mounted on a A77. I do not use it on my A99.

The a6300 doesn't come out for another month.
Hi, I love this lens. It's my walk around lens and it is pretty sharp. I wish Sony lenses were lighter but this a great all-around use lens.
I agree with everything you've said.
