Bridges over the Willamette
I really like the set and it brings back fond memories of my times in Portland.

A Sense of Place: Let's Study and Share!HOW TO CRITIQUE:
Think about your emotional response along with the usual technical considerations.
- Emotionally I feel as if I'm on a dinner cruise snapping memories with those around me.
Also, are the images connected in terms of subject and processing to form a series?
- The images are well made and processed to match
Are they alike/different enough to be interesting as a group?
- I would presume these are from the same night's river cruise
Do the images tell a story?
- The images feel like I'm shooting along with the cruise until I reach the last two where I'm unsure if they belong to the same set
What suggestions do you have for the photographer?
- Consider removing the last two as break the feel as you step-through the cruise also telling the story with less.
Thank you for sharing these and taking us along with you! S-

All of these photos are quite stunning m9. All processed in similar fashion with 7 seeming a bit brighter. They are a group from a series but could be arranged a bit different, all personal taste mind you. The story is of a nights outing afloat. Well done in my opinion.
Per the critique format:

--Pleasant flow (no pun intended :) ) to the series. As others have suggested, seems like a clear beautiful night to travel the water, and that all were taken on the same journey.

--I feel the vibrant energy of a large city with varied architecture and a whole lotta water! The series helped me see a side of Portland I might not have enjoyed otherwise. No suggestions...well done!

What an interesting way to convey a sense of place: show a water-rich city at night from the water, with all the color generated by the lights and their reflections.
They are all taken from water and all show water, uninterrupted by other elements, as their foreground. All are similarly processed and hang together well as a series. I have a sense that I am on the boat, sailing from far to near and beneath these interesting bridges which I've seen but never from that angle.
What do I like best? The rich colors you've captured against the darkness. Though I have to admit this series would probably be very nice in black and white as well, maybe with fewer images.
What suggestions do I have? Very minor ones! I'd look again at the perspectives and be very deliberate about aligning everything for balance - horizon lines, the arc of the bridges, the crops. They are very close, but there are minor changes of a degree of two here and there that would really make this a masterful series. I would darken the sky a bit in #6 to match the others, and drop the blues just a tad on #5 to bring them a little more in line with the luminosity of other lights in the series so they don't jump out.
All in all, a great series!
To all that responded, thanks. I believe the suggestions to remove 1 or 2 are valid, I would probably remove the steel bridge. The photos are arranged in order of passing. It does seem to have conveyed a sense of place.
This was a great exercise Minnie, Thank you

Your set of technically, topically, and thematically coherent images are a pleasure to view ...slowly and contemplatively. Although I've no way of knowing, I like to think they were made the same night.
