On December 17th this year a friend of mine bought a D50 camera as a Christmas present to his 15 year old son. On December 22nd my friend died unexpectedly. Things did not work out well for either one. My wife and I will gladly take over teaching the boy how to use the camera, but we do not own the camera manual and have had no luck finding it locally. Would anyone have either the manual or a copy of one of the related instructional books specific for the d50 that they would be willing to part with? It would mean a lot to the lad and me. If you can help please pm me. Thanks Leon

That is terrible. I'm so sorry to hear that. Maybe you could print this 19pg manual from the Ken Rockwell site.

You can download the factory manual for the camera from quite a few sites. Here are two:

http://www.camera-usermanual.com/nikon-d50.html

Good luck.

Thank you for the information. I did know about the sites for downloading, but I wanted the lad to have a copy of the one that came with the camera. That way he can keep it with the camera in the camera bag we gave him. If no one out there doesn't still have one they are willing to part with, I'll go directly to Nikon.

Download the pdf file and take it to Kinkos, Staples, Office Max and have it printed and wire bound.

Contact Nikon directly see if they can give you any help with that.

Also I believe that KEH has what you are looking for.

Thanks for your service, caring and commitment.

Here is a trick which will enable you to print out a pdf manual in the smaller size of the original: use letter size paper and tell the printer you are using say 4x6 or whatever size you prefer. The printout will be smaller and all that is left to do is cut the paper sheets down to the size.

Thanks again to all who have tried to help. I'll wait the rest of the day to see if one is available as a donation. If that doesn't help, I'll try to order direct from Nikon. I appreciate those who have offered to buy a copy and send it. I can afford to buy it for the lad, but if one was available, that would be good. There will be other needs for him in the near future so finding this book is just a start. Have a great new year. Leon
