Forgot to mention my goals. 1. Survive with this monster called Apple. 2. Get my Wacom and plugins to work on this monster. 3.Learn to get a photo into Lightroom before my year's subscription is over. 4. Improve my ability to capture what I think I see. 5. Possibly take a flash photo. (I think that last one is too ambitious.)

Flash - hmm forgot about that one. But I do have other goals equally as challenging.

A wonderful start Pat to make us think of the year ahead
My goal is to learn to use a PP program other than picassa. I did purchase the On 1 program a couple of months ago and have not had time to even try it! So I may be contacting all you experts with questions once I get at it! My friends keep telling me I need to get on facebook--I say I have facebook, but it is all photography stuff and I visit with people from all over...how much more can I need to know about what all is happening?

Thanks Pat! Worked hard on the birds. I couldn't believe my luck when we found the nesting area (rookery)! John had to drag me back to the car! LOL!

The egrts are beautiful. Love the one with the branches in beak and the delicate feathers of the last. Of course, the tossed about rodeo cowboys were great action shots.

Two of my 2015 goals were: improve editing skills and increase works in BW. I purchased On1 and Lightroom6. Purchased some additional external drives and re-organized all my photo files and back up system. Even doubled the memory in my desktop - and installed it myself (a proud moment!) One specific goal for 2016: NO MORE SOFTWARE - must learn what I have, including my new Wacom tablet.

The following series illustrates Asome things learned in editing and BW conversion in 2015. I know some have seen them before.

Nice start Pat, I'll be looking in but will be in Austin with Kids and Grandkids for our family Christmas gift exchange, so may not have a lot of time to do much more than lurk.

LOL! I know what you mean about Facebook! I had to stop "following" people as I could not get any photography and/or editing done! LOL! I guess we have to pick our priorities! LOL!

Some other BW conversions. I worked the color versions first and then converted.

Liked it in B/W, not just a simple click to do and still didn't likely get it right.

Rarely do "selective" color/BW but this one tested my editing-I really wanted the heart-shaped leaves to stand out and the background was somewhat confusing. Had to really think about masks and which layer I was on etc.

Picassa works well for many, but I know you will like the On1. I have 8 programs/apps. Some overlap but they each of several things the others don't.

Love that man. Mine sits in the car and twiddles his thumbs wondering what on earth there could possibly be worth stopping the car, doing a U turn for. I just say "This might be the million dollar picture" (LOL)

So, lurk - while you're lurking, I bet you will see a "goal" that hits a responsive chord with you - maybe a particular type of photography you'd like to try or a fair to enter some of your work in....

I can relate to what both you and Clicker are saying--or I get the comment "haven't you already taken pictures of that?" and I can say--well the sky is different today!

What an honor - to finish out 2015 with you and ring in 2016! With everyone’s help, “The Challenge” marked another year. Amazing! BUT we need more folks to take on a challenge so we can continue!!!

I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, BUT I do set goals for the coming year. In this challenge, I challenge you to reflect on your 2015 photography and set some personal direction for 2016. If you had any goals for 2015, share them - met or unmet. Where would you like to be, photographically, one year from now? I will share some of mine with you and Look forward to reading and seeing yours.

My major goal for 2015 was the planning and preparation for the Portland Photopalooza. It meant lots of planing, pre-shooting and photo op sleuthing before the event , so I could enjoy it with you all. I had never before planned such a multifaceted, large event.

That sure is one beautiful photo.

Beautiful opening pic Pat! And also love the b/w and infrared! I think my photography has improved over the last year. Bushido really helped me with portraiture and I have been working on learning gimp. I hope to get better with landscapes in 2016 and of course get better with PP. My husband is a Linux guy, so gimp is all I have. I hope to get a new laptop this coming year and have some other software to use.

I see you had set some great goals for 2015 and looks like you pretty much covered them... not to mention the Photopalooza! What a lot of work it was with many challenges and stress for you! And in the end it turned out so extremely well! There was not a person who went away without having had fun or being little more knowledgeable in photography techniques, and grateful for all your work! Not to mention having many SD/CF cards full of photos! LOL!

In 2015 I set one main goal and it was to learn to take better bird pictures and birds in flight (panning) and action/sports shots. I deleted a lot of photos over the year and need to delete a lot more...but I did improve my technique and was happy with some of my results.

I would say that you greatly exceeded your goal on your bird pics Clicker! These are excellent!

Is #3 not good because it is impossible?

Great goals! Except for #3, I bet you find #5 will be the easy one!
