What an honor - to finish out 2015 with you and ring in 2016! With everyone’s help, “The Challenge” marked another year. Amazing! BUT we need more folks to take on a challenge so we can continue!!!

I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, BUT I do set goals for the coming year. In this challenge, I challenge you to reflect on your 2015 photography and set some personal direction for 2016. If you had any goals for 2015, share them - met or unmet. Where would you like to be, photographically, one year from now? I will share some of mine with you and Look forward to reading and seeing yours.

My major goal for 2015 was the planning and preparation for the Portland Photopalooza. It meant lots of planing, pre-shooting and photo op sleuthing before the event , so I could enjoy it with you all. I had never before planned such a multifaceted, large event.

Two of my 2015 goals were: improve editing skills and increase works in BW. I purchased On1 and Lightroom6. Purchased some additional external drives and re-organized all my photo files and back up system. Even doubled the memory in my desktop - and installed it myself (a proud moment!) One specific goal for 2016: NO MORE SOFTWARE - must learn what I have, including my new Wacom tablet.

The following series illustrates some things learned in editing and BW conversion in 2015. I know some have seen them before.

The original shot with some highlighting and saturation etc - BUT lots of poles and distractions

Wonderful start to a very interesting challenge Pat! I can't wait to see what everyone posts!
I love the b/w conversions and the infrared! The edited color picture is superb too!

Will post shortly!

I see you had set some great goals for 2015 and looks like you pretty much covered them... not to mention the Photopalooza! What a lot of work it was with many challenges and stress for you! And in the end it turned out so extremely well! There was not a person who went away without having had fun or being little more knowledgeable in photography techniques, and grateful for all your work! Not to mention having many SD/CF cards full of photos! LOL!

In 2015 I set one main goal and it was to learn to take better bird pictures and birds in flight (panning) and action/sports shots. I deleted a lot of photos over the year and need to delete a lot more...but I did improve my technique and was happy with some of my results.

For 2016, my goal is the opposite of you Pat! LOL! I need to learn On1 which I purchased after we got back from Maine and I am going to be getting Lightroom and Photoshop 6 and also adding on Topaz. I have been studying tutorials over the past week on PS6 at a friend's place and will be ordering it and LR at the end of Jan. ...if not before! With the knowledge of these programs I am looking to prepare more photos for the Portside Art Gallery where my art is hanging.

This picture was taken today through a patio window. It was very cloudy and dull and so I had to work (in post processing) on brightening it up and getting rid of the noise and keeping detail. I have a long way to go on this, but having fun learning!

Really nice images, Pat. Also some good goals. I hate to tell you, but in Photoshop it would take just a couple minues to remove those poles. You simply move the bandaid brush over them and it automatically fills in. Occassional it doesn't work well, but most of the time it does.

Forgot to mention my goals. 1. Survive with this monster called Apple. 2. Get my Wacom and plugins to work on this monster. 3.Learn to get a photo into Lightroom before my year's subscription is over. 4. Improve my ability to capture what I think I see. 5. Possibly take a flash photo. (I think that last one is too ambitious.)

The egrts are beautiful. Love the one with the branches in beak and the delicate feathers of the last. Of course, the tossed about rodeo cowboys were great action shots.

Great goals! Except for #3, I bet you find #5 will be the easy one!

My photo program has a bandaid (3 of them do),but, the healing kept picking up unwanted foliage.
