Tim Grey, at the 00:37 point.

Thank you, Jerry. His video is just what I've been looking for and I've listened to enough to know I need to start all over with Lightroom and organize my folders first.

Thats good advice although I do disagree with him an a few things. The biggest is the folder structure. I always have a main folder on a external drive with the next level by date. Tim takes issues with this as in his words it makes it hard to locate files. I submit that a directory structure is not the best way to locate files, rather keywords and collections is a much better way to locate files.

But you will need to find your own way that works for you. The main thing is to be consistent and do it the same way every time.

I'm going to have to really do some studying because I keep hearing terms such as "side car file" or "corrupt catalog" and I don't have clue what you're talking about, but everyone has given me a lot to think about. And for that I say thank you.

If you get Kelby's book it will be very well explain. Also, Tim Grey has a daily email where he answers writers questions. He is very knowledgeable.

Funny, you accuse me of making broad statements and making assumptions and in your next breath you make broad statements and assumptions yourself. I love a challenge and fully support everyone's right to do so as it forces me and others to revisit their solutions and either defend the theory or revamp it so it does afford a workable solution. I spent some time re-reading your post to me and after reading your posts to others I see where you feel it appropriate to challenge other possible answers to the problem when they don't fall in line with your ideas. Nothing wrong with your ideas and yes they are plausible as are mine. I know mine to be plausible as I have experienced it first hand on more than one occasion.

Again you make a broad statement that may not be true at all. Since we know it's not possible for LR to decide to revert to an original image on its own accord. A reasonable assumptions is the OP has more than one folder of images. It might also be a catalog issue where they are writing to the catalog but not the sidecar file. They may have more than one catalog with similar names, I could go on and on elaborating on things it could be. There are literally a ton of things it can be including a folder issue. I simply stated one of the issues could be as simple as you are looking at the incorrect folder.

You made a statement that is has nothing to do with folders. When you make a possibly false broad statement like that to support your theory, expect to get challenged on it. You have no way of knowing this since the OP has not provided enough information.
Again you make a broad statement that may not be t... (show quote)
