I took their course back in the film days. It was very helpful then.

jm, welcome to the Hog!
Nothing against NYIP, especially since I know nothing about it, other than what read here, but, I strongly feel that to sit in a brick and mortar school with real students around you and under the guidance of a professional instructor one would have a much better learning environment.
Of course, depending on your goals and situation, I always advise one to find a JC or College with a good photography program and enroll. Yes, that's a big commitment, but nothing like being in an unvirtual classroom. But, any instruction is better than no instruction!!
Just my two cents!! ;-)

Good people and you learn at your speed. I found it money well spent.

My Grandfather graduated from them back in the 1950's or 60's in film. I still have all of the 3 ring binder material from the classes. He had me use it when he was teaching be photography as I grew up. They were pretty good at the time. I doubt that they have changed much.

Took the coarse back in the early 70's, and they are still around, must be doing something right. Another one is Hallmark. http://hallmark.edu/

Yes, took the first class. It might be me but I kept falling asleep listening and watching the video. I never did finish it. Very mono-tone.

Yes. Just finishing up the last section of material. The course is excellent but it depends on how much effort you are willing to put into it. I have three, three inch, binders full of material that I printed off their website. My experience has been both online and classroom courses on photography over the years and NYIP does an excellent job of presenting material in depth. As someone mentioned, you can work at your own schedule which is great. Good luck. George
