What's up with Adorama Pix?

I recently posted a photo in the "people section." I got a lot of great feedback on it from my fellow hedgehogs. The family I did it for loved it and wanted it printed 20X24. I sent the photo to Adorama Pix to be printed, because they have a great reputation, and my experience in purchasing photo equipment from them has always been great.
The photo can be seen here...

I sent them the digital file on Nov. 30 and paid extra for 2 day shipping. I was told I would get it by today, Dec. 9th.
I received a package on Monday the 7th. I opened it and found a beautiful print. Unfortunately it was someone else's photo!
I called them Tuesday morning and was told they would rush it to me. So far all I got from them was an emailed apology with an attached shipping label for me to send back the photo. That they did very quickly.
I called again today and they still have not printed my photo. They promised me it would be in my hands by the end of the week. This photo is supposed to be a Christmas gift for the mother of these kids. They are extremely nice people, so I really am hoping they will not be disappointed by Adorama Pix.
As I said, I really like Adorama, so this was a shock to me. I'm still hoping they will get it done and shipped in a timely manner, but I thought this would be a good place to stand up and scream a little. I'll update this as things happen (or don't).

Can't really speak to your situation specifically... but I have been using Adoramapix for about a year (Mostly 11x14 & 20x26 stuff) and have never had any problems. I have been very pleased with the quality of the prints they deliver. Keeping my fingers x'ed that they correct this asap....(& hoping it does not indicate a trend!) It was a Christmas photo snafu that caused me to drop the previous service I was using....

Thanks for your reply. My fingers are X'ed as well! I'm guess they just got a little too busy and screwed up. It takes at least a half hour just to get a person on the phone there.

What if you call in and cancel that order. then reorder. I might speed up the process.

I already paid for it. I'll have to trust that they will get it to me fast, as promised.

I'm pleased to see this was resolved - I am sure it was sheer weight of Holiday orders that caused the delay.
For future reference, whether you need help with any order from AdoramaPix or Adorama Camera, you are most welcome to email me directly: Helen@adorama.com.

Thanks Helen. As I said, dealing with your company has always been a great experience for me. That's why I was so surprised to see this order get so fouled up. Hopefully, I will receive the correct photo this time and my friends will be happy and enjoy their Christmas. I wish you and all my friends here on 'The Hog" a happy holiday as as well. Thanks for your reply.

I went to look at your original and commented there, but want to here also, and say I absolutely LOVE what you did with the picture, and yes, the crop helped too. Nice work!

Thanks again, and thanks to my fellow 'hogs' for convincing me to make the crop.

For me, in a situation like this, One screw up is the kiss of death, no second chances. I will still shop gear from them but was just about to send them a calendar order that I will now do locally. Thanks for the heads up.

I have used AdoramaPix constantly too and have only had one issue (which turned out to be my wife's ordering the wrong size so it doesn't really count). They have been fast and reasonable and easy to work with. I am sure that they will make it up to you although I realize that there are time constraints on you because of the holidays. I am sure they are having crazy times because of Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. too.

Stuff happens, and its not always for the better....but that's life.

When dealing with Adorama or B&H, Hoggers should make use of the company contacts (and participants) with the forum to resolve the matter. I've followed/read problem situations reflected here over the years, and contact with these sources resolve the matter 99.9% of the time. Lets do this first before bad mouthing the firms.
