I was given the attached family portrait taken about 13 years ago by a pro photographer in a mall kiosk and asked to re make it as a gift for the mother of the 3 kids, now grown up.
The 1st photo is the original, the 2nd, my attempt at the remake.
The kids and the dad love it, Mom won't see it until Christmas, but I would love to see what my fellow hedgehogs think of it.
We had to acquire the hats and other stuff to make it work, but it was a fun project.

Not too shabby! I would crop tighter, especially getting rid of as much white on the top as possible. It might be better too if you could have gotten the sisters shoulder closer to the height of her brothers as in the original. Doesn't feel quite as tight knit as before.

Still, you did a super job!

Thanks for your reply. Like the original, it is cropped to print at 20X24, so I can't really take much more off the top, but I see your point. As for their poses, I agree. I tried to get the boy on the left to get up on his his knees to make his shoulder closer to his sisters, but he was unable to do that. I also had to work fast because the other boy was in an uncomfortable position.
Anyway, I thank you for your suggestions and for the nice comments.

Mom is going to love this !!! What a great idea. I like it as is but yes a crop would be better. Excellent work.

Actually, Quickflash, you could crop the whole image rather than just lopping off the top and still maintain your 20x24 frame. By doing so,it brings it closer to the original image and its spirit.

Here's a quick example of what I'm suggesting . . .

Thank you Rich. After cropping as suggested by everyone, I like it even better. I'm sure the family will too.

Thank you Raymond. I cropped the photo as advised, and sent it to Adoramapix to be printed! I know they will do a great job.

You have a winner here. If mom doesn't get a tear in her eye I would be surprised.

Thanks for the kind words. The kids promised to send me a phone photo of her expression when she sees it.
