First off, a belated Happy Birthday Doc and from the looks of this set, I think you had a great day, with the exception of the heat!!!
I enjoyed them all the downloads were awesome, such detail!!!

:-D

Thanks so much Angela. I always appreciate you looking in and your nice comments. Thanks also for taking the time to download them. They always look so much better. Except for the heat it was a great chance to catch up with the family and eat some real BarBQ.

Great shots Doc, love the details and colors, very well done

Wow Gregory coming from a photographer of your caliber I'll take that as a special compliment. I'm really working at moving from a picture taker to a photographer. Some of the shots, well, there's not much you can do with the background. I want to get a shot of that particular dragon for the record but no matter how much you try to get them to move to a higher perch they are ground perches for the most part. So, you take the clutter and try to minimize it.
Just moved to a whole new set up and I'm still getting used to it too. Again, thanks for looking in and the nice compliment.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun and excitement. This spring is a go for me. We go to Galveston for the last week of March every year, other than that, I am free. Would love to meet you both.

Mike, I thank you for the compliment. You, my friend, are a photographer. I take pictures of dragonflies and insects. I would love to have your skills and artistic eye. I just got a new lens and am off of the tripod, for now, and on to a monopod. These are making a difference in where I can go without disturbing these creatures. Thanks again and have a great day!

Thank you Bob for the kind words. This new lens and being able to get the angles I want with the monopod over the tripod has helped at least for ease of shooting. I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment my friend. Have a great day!

I just got back from a two week visit with my children and grandchildren in Round Rock (Austin), TX. It was wonderful except for the record temperatures. I had a wonderful time as you can imagine as I only get to see them about 3 times each year. I took the day off on my birthday and met up with a few friends who are real photographers(Audubon and Dragonfly field guide cover shooters). They've helped me a lot.My target species for the survey was the Checkered Setwing which we did find. 4 1/2 hours in 99ยบ was taxing to say the least. Many dragons were taking shelter from the heat so it was slim pickings. I did however get a few shots of some different species. I hope you enjoy them They are much better in the download.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks Doc. It use to be a small town and friendly. Now if you drive out of town 2 miles it is all stores and if you go another 2 miles it is all hoses. Not many farms left.:( They plant houses now. Janny and I are thinking about moving and find the country again if we can.:):)

Thanks Erv. Well their season is winding down like ours up here. The spring and summer are prime times for dragons down there. Yeah, now that I look at what I have I was pretty lucky. Love the pictures of your town. Looks like a great place to live.

Thanks for checking out this series Earnest. It was a fun trip to your area of the country. I'd just have trouble with the heat if I lived there.

I know what you mean Erv. I go back over to Lancaster County to the Amish country and I can't believe it. Some of the biggest Holstein farms are developments. Stone-end barns are gone. My house and the farm I worked on are an ag machinery store. It just kills me. When I take classes up in the Poconos, places I used to hike are now huge developments with $500,000 homes.
They cut down all the trees and name the streets after them.

Although my sister (who lives in Houston) might say: "you weren't in Texas - you were in Austin" - to which I would tell her: "Thank goodness"! :)
