I just got back from a two week visit with my children and grandchildren in Round Rock (Austin), TX. It was wonderful except for the record temperatures. I had a wonderful time as you can imagine as I only get to see them about 3 times each year. I took the day off on my birthday and met up with a few friends who are real photographers(Audubon and Dragonfly field guide cover shooters). They've helped me a lot.My target species for the survey was the Checkered Setwing which we did find. 4 1/2 hours in 99ยบ was taxing to say the least. Many dragons were taking shelter from the heat so it was slim pickings. I did however get a few shots of some different species. I hope you enjoy them They are much better in the download.
Thanks for looking.

Great shots DOC. Sorry we missed you. Our Florida trip went well and I got a lot of shots but haven't had time to process them yet. It was actually cooler in Southern Florida then it was here in Texas! You got some I have never seen before. Where did you go for these? I will be sending you an e-mail as I have some that I can't ID.

Excellent!
Although my sister (who lives in Houston) might say: "you weren't in Texas - you were in Austin" - to which I would tell her: "Thank goodness"! :)
Excellent set with great poses Doc . Great stuff.
First off, a belated Happy Birthday Doc and from the looks of this set, I think you had a great day, with the exception of the heat!!!
I enjoyed them all the downloads were awesome, such detail!!!

Thanks Goldwinger. I appreciate you taking the time look in and comment. Our dragonfly season here in PA is winding down fast. It was nice to extend the season a little longer and photograph some dragons we don't get up here. Have a great day!

Hey Dee Dee thanks for looking in. I'm glad your trip went well. I shot these at Hornsby Bend Environmental Area between the sludge pools and the Colorado River near the airport. I'm going to post some from Old Settlers Lake soon. We had a wonderful time in Austin at a Round Rock football game, the NFL traveling exhibit at the museum, g-kids sports, and a trip to Waco to see Baylor and West Virginia football game. (My son went to WVU). Wow what a beautiful new stadium and campus at Baylor.
This trip we flew to Houston and drove to Round Rock. Wow, not much between the two.
I hope to get down in the spring. Maybe we can get together with Jay Pat.

Great shots Doc, love the details and colors, very well done

Thanks Erv. Well their season is winding down like ours up here. The spring and summer are prime times for dragons down there. Yeah, now that I look at what I have I was pretty lucky. Love the pictures of your town. Looks like a great place to live.

I appreciate the compliment Steve but as I tell people, I'm just a picture taker. I'm not an artsy photographer like many here on the UHH. I shoot hem to get the field markings for proper ID.
This was the first time we flew into Houston and drove to Round Rock. Wow, not much between those two cities. The Hill Country is very nice but I'm not sure I could live there.
Now your area is a different story. We visit friends in Palm Caost and that's a nice area!
Again, thanks for the nice compliment.
