If you said "orange" you'd only be partially correct.

I see some yellows, greens, reds and browns too, and then the offshoots of orange like gold, peach, russet and ochre. And then I went hog-wild and accessed the website http://www.color-blindness.com/color-name-hue/ which listed 1641 color names and came up with:

Sorbus (Orange)
Fire Brick (Red)
Rob Roy (Yellow)
Verdun Green (Green)
Woodsmoke (Grey)
Contessa (Red)
Citrus (Green)
Crown of Thorns (Red)
Beige (Brown)
Chocolate (Brown)
Trinidad (Orange)
Chilean Fire (Orange)

......... and those were only a sampling.

I was a R&D printing ink chemist for over 30 years. I sometimes had to match colors, our bible was the PMS Book(Pantone Matching system) Pantone also maintains records for corporate colors; you can probably add a few thousand to that list of just orange.

I like it, Bob. There are a lot of colors there, and I'll take your word for all the names.

Looks orange to me, but isn't it nice to have a camera/lens that can show the distinction in shades?

You know more about it than I do Dave. I seem to recall something about 32 million color combinations, but I doubt they'd all have names. Even the website I mentioned pointed out that his was not a comprehensive listing.

Thanks John. Rather than just submit another "Fall Color" photograph I thought I might like to toss in some extra seasoning.

Thanks oldtigger ...... I agree with you in my delight for having a camera that can display those subtle hues in such a way that they become distinguishable from one another.

The multitude of colors is so well done Bob. The touch of listing various names is a neat idea.

Thanks Snap Shot. Shooting Fall Color is just a bit challenging, deciding how much or how little to include in a photo. This was an experiment to get a rather wide selection but still bring out the detail in each leaf. I'm thankful that the color differences were pronounced enough to offer the differentiation.
