What's that have to do with photography?
Should be in Chit-Chat or Links.

Well, it is true that the article doesn't specifically mention photography, but inasmuch as many who offer instruction in photographic post-production recommend Wacom tablets for precision retouching, and if this article is to be believed, the Apple Pencil is far and away more responsive than is a Wacom, I'd think it would be highly relevant to photography.

The use of the Apple Pencil in photo retouching was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the demo. I am definitely awaiting for someone to explore this area.

Definitely relevant. Go drink your morning coffee. You'll be a lot less cranky.

Post processing, a lot of people post process with a graphics tablet, the problem with apples pencil is it requires an ipad or ipad pro pretty much as it needs a touch screen to work.

http://blog.astropad.com/ipad-pro-and-apple-pencil/

now this makes it interesting since you can use apps on your mac from the iPad so yes real photoshop illustrator ect. To work with much more compelling.

Not to mention that one can do a heckuva lot more with an iPad beyond photo retouching, whereas, with a Wacom - you retouch. Period.

After watching all the video links and sub-links, I would not be inclined to buy a Wacom, however the jury is still out regarding the Apple iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil.

I believe the pencil works ONLY with the new iPad Pro.

What makes the pencil and other dedicated tables like the Wacom special is they have a high resolution sensor grid embedded in the tablet so it's not relying on the touch screen which is not terribly accurate. You can also rest your hand on the surface when an app is only paying attention to the pencil

"I believe the pencil works ONLY with the new iPad Pro."

Based on what I see on their website, The Astropad folks seem to be trying to make the Pencil work on any iPad.

There is potential for some very good kit.

http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/laptops/ipad-pro-versus-the-microsoft-surface-pro-3-1303879 has a comparison between the iPad Pro and the surface pro 3. Looks like the pro wins for now microsoft has a pro 4 coming soon.

Thing is the Wacom Cintiq is not exactly cheap. $800 for the pen version $1000 for the touch version of the 13" version

http://store.wacom.com/us/en/product/DTH1300K/

So the ipad pro looks like an interesting alternative, wacoms had blocking patents for decades but some have expired so perhaps there may be more competition in this area.

I don't need another iPad, BUT if someone writes a decent app that turns the iPad Pro into a pen input device for my Macbook Pro, I would pick it up. I have an old Wacom tablet that I use for editing every once in a while, but most of the time it leans against the wall.

No, it's just that UHH offers 28 different forum sections and there is no reason for not using the appropriate section for posts.
