I too shoot with the Tamron 18-270...overall a very good lens to keep on most of the time. I use it on my 60d and it does a very good job for me...this and the 10-18 travel with me most times.

I think you will like it

I ended up with the Tamron 28 - 300 and paid more but,

It is a faster focusing lens. I found the other lenses are great except when I was shooting some races. Spoke to the Tamron Rep. and he recommended the 28 to 300 and it worked. I lost a little at the 28 side.

Caution. I have the Tamron 18-270, well I'm on my second one. Tamron is great with service but the lens is in question for me. I had to send mine in for repairs three times before they replaced it with a new lens due to lens creep and failing to communicate with my camera. The new one I received began the same thing about three months after I got it. Sent it in and they tightened it up, almost too much, but so far no problem. Let's say I'm a little leary about Tamron although I do have a 200-500 that works beautifully. I do question the design on the 18-270 especially when the rep I talked to mentioned that it was a frequent problem.

That is no doubt a great lens, but much more than my budget. Thanks for the info though.

The 18-270 Tamron works great. I have one and it was a great buy for the money.

I've read about this issue and am a little weary of the lens because of it, but I've also read a lot of good reviews. I may just try it and if it's a problem then Tamron will fix it.

Hi, I teach a couple photography classes. I have discovered, the some who serious photographer have been very well pleases with the Tamron 18-270 PZD drive lens. The 16-300 is a marketing lens. the 270 begins to fall apart at the HIGH end. 300mm can't be any better. I think you'd love it. most of my images are taken with this lens. www.cokerphotos.com

Don't know if I have an older model of the Tamron 18-270 but the lens creep is a real pain in the butt. I had to put a rubber wrist band on the lens so it wouldn't creep when shooting in the downward position. The pictures that the lens gives is OK in my book. Have shot entire football games with this lens when I am to lazy to break out the 70-200 or the big boy 150-500.

I have the lens and use it on my Canon T3i. It was the only lens I took on my last three trips and covered the things I needed it to cover. It also stays on the camera for running around locally on the off chance I'll see a photo op.

I use the 18-270 Tamron most of the time and it has served me well. I am an amateur so those who are much more experienced may give you better info. I have used mine on Safaris to Kenya and Tanzania and have some really nice pictures. It is subject to lens creep which is my only complaint.

I've owned the Tamron 18-270mm for about 4 years. I've taken it on cruises, hiking the trails in the Pacific Northwest, and lately on a trip to New England. The Tamron has only given me one problem, it went a little "soft" just a few months after purchase. I sent it back to Tamron, and the repair slip said Tamron replaced one element, cleaned manufacturing debris, calibrated the chip to my 50D specs. The lens was back in my hands in a week. Keep in mind, Tamron warranties their lenses for 6 years. Also, keep in mind the Tamron 18-270 is consumer type lens. Don't expect stellar performance as you would from a Canon "L" quality, or Nikon/Nikor lens. But, the image quality will be very acceptable. It does suffer from lens creep, but it has a "creep stop" button that locks the lens at the 18mm position. Out of the box it may be a bit "soft" at the high end, but a quick trip to Tamron will fix it for your specific camera. You must buy the lens new to get the 6 year warranty.

I now use a Sigma 18-300, but I had a Tamron 18-270 VC PZD. The Sigma is a little sharper, but the Tamron was still good for an all-in-one, and it's a lot less expensive. There is an older version 18-270 VC so be sure to get the PZD version.

Go for the 16-300 lens and more on both ends.

Excellent lens. I have two of them and bought one for my daughter. I also have the 16-300 and like it better. My only comment is ... damn you Tamron for coming out with a great product forcing me to spend more money. Either one is great and are my walk around lenses for my crop cameras.
