Watch some of her other videos of him and the pony. As she states most of the the time he is a good pony. These were taken over a fairly long period of time. The pony probably gave that young man a very good seat and balance.

CM, right. There are vids of him riding as a young man too. Ed was a pony that any child would love. His personality was priceless and so was Ross's. Riding like that as a child would make anyone a great rider.

I do too, Vinnie. he not only won't quit but you can tell he loves every minute of it. When Ed stops, Ross pops him again. I think it's hilarious. Neither one is hurting the other, they are a happy little pair!

Some of the cultures of central Asia put children on horses very early as well - I've seen three- and four-year olds rding bareback or with a simple blanket and bridle. Turkmen, Kazakh, Uzbek, Mongols, and their brethren treat horses as members of the family, and the kids are taught respect for them fron Day 1.

Jim if you remember the outcome of the recent news story about the girl who was held captive for 18 years and abused all that time, she said that after she got free, horses were what made her come back to some state of NORMAL again and helped her through the post trauma.
Take a look at the other child pony vid I put in chit chat. It will make you heart sing!

I think he needs a seatbelt! I also noticed he went from a helmet, to a hardhat! Good idea when riding that frisky pony! It's awesome how he gets up and gets right back on! Good luck Ross!

That was funny.
My son rode my horse for a very short minute or two last Easter. His first time up on the horse and despite my telling him what to do and not to do, he never heard a word!
after all hes a man, right!
Do they listen?
NO!!!
anyhow the minute he started to jerk on her reins, that started it. 20 ft around the round ring and he was now down on the ground nursing his ego.
she gave him 3 bucks and that's all it took.
Helped him back up and i got up on her and showed him, she was good, you just have to know what NOT to do.
now my son is not a youngster, hes 45 this year.
i had to send that video to him and his wife.

i have it on my external hard drive..
when i need a laugh, i pull it up. at the time i was not laughing tho.
I was just thankful he was not hurt and she was wearing the bitless bridle or he would of tore her mouth open pulling on the reins going down.

Thank goodness he wasn't hurt and thank goodness for bitless bridles. I wondered about the mouth, but wasn't going to ask. Even bitless bridles are not completely safe. If they are put on with the piece across the nose in just the right (wrong) place, one really hard jerk can break the tip of the nose. I have a horse right now that needs one.

They started Heaven on the Bit, i was not pleased with that, since i don't think a piece of hard metal helps their disposition. I know i would not want one in my mouth.
I took the bitless with me, and they used it and found she gave as good a result with it as the bit in her mouth.
Its a Dr. Cooks and certainly was not cheap. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is starting a horse.

I made a bitless, by Dr Cook's pattern. I'm sure he would rather I'd just buy one, but I let a girl borrow it for a youngster and she has never brought it home. My big blue in my avatar is full of spit and vinegar and hard to stop with a bitless, (rarely need to stop him) but I use a straight bit, not very thick and a loose curb. I never touch the bit. I guide with the flick of a little finger and stop with voice command, unless something spooks him (takes a lot to do that, but it COULD happen), then the bit is there if I need it. Except for guiding, my horse is completely loose and on his on when I ride. I don't get in his mouth his mouth at all.
We had 77 horses at one time and guess who got to be the first one in the saddle  I'm almost 75 and still can, but have ONE more to go and think I will give that up and just ride.

Thank you. I'm very careful. I never "cowboy" a horse. That way takes an hour or so. My way takes 3 weeks. I easy break and they never realize when it happens. Hey, you are young! I feel 25 every day of my life except for one knee. I'm very sure it's 40 years older than I am.
