We spent the afternoon at Peace Valley Park and hit an off day as far as seeing birds, but we did see turtles. In the first two, can anyone tell us what's on their shells? Looks like fungus or something! YUK!

Yep, they look pretty grungy. Nice shots Sue, it will be interesting to find out what people have to say about that stuff.

Nice captures Sue, the algae on their backs is a good sign of pretty still if not stagnant water with lots of algae in it. Good shots. :-D :-D

Ohhh, I'm glad you identified it, Jim! So it's algae! Poor guys! Wonder if it'll ever come off? Guess not as long as they live there! :( Thanks so much for looking and for the info. Jim!
