What a super idea, Steve!
I'm just going to discuss two of them:
2. The ladybug close-up - Rule of Thirds, subject moving towards center of frame, diagonal lines for energy and movement, leading line straight to the ladybug, curved shape of the bug breaking up the patterns found in rest of the frame. All classic elements for composition.
4. Scrabble board. This one is brilliantly creative in my opinion and I would have placed it first in originality, for sure!
Again, diagonal lines for interest, including shooting the board itself diagonally. But listing types of trees as the words on the board: for me, that just went above and beyond. So imaginative and delighful!

Delighted to have this added to the weekly contest! So much work goes into this feature on the hog that it makes sense to capitalize on this opportunity. Linda, thank you for your comments about my image. With my iPhone in hand I was frantically composing the frame and silently praying it would not fly away.
I agree about the scrabble board being the creative winner. I think it is an image that compels the viewer to stay in the frame. Perhaps the voters skipped over it quickly in order to get through all the entries.
The first place bridge grabs attention at first glance and the dynamic range was well captured. Think is is a tastefully done HDR but not sure. Love the tonal range.
The light in number three presents the image in an appealing manner. I felt the mystery and it gave me some ideas that I would like to try out down the road.
