I travel 3 times per year. Have always used my D810 with the holy trinity and it has gotten hard to travel with this equipment. Am thinking of getting the Sony alpha 6000 or can wait for the full frame a7ii which is due out shortly. Does anyone have any experience with the alpha a6000 or should I wait and see on the full frame. The reviews on the a6000 are excellent. Would get the Sony Zeiss 16-70 with the a6000 to start with.
I have the D810, A6000, and RX100iii. When I am shooting landscape, I use the D810. I use the A6000 for street photography. I carry the RX100iii when I don't have anything special planned. Some of my favorite photos were taken with the RX100iii because I had it with me and saw something unexpected but special. The controls on the A6000 and the RX100 are very similar.

I have the Sony a6000 and the Sony/Zeiss 16-70 as well as a Nikon D7100 with several lenses. The Sony combo is now used about 80% of the time for everything except wildlife or when I need a fast f1.8 lens. The Sony will be the only camera I will take on our trip to eastern Canada and a cruise later this month with the 16-70 lens and a Sony 10-18 lens.
I heartily recommend this combo for you!
I too have the a6000 and love it. I'm saving up my shekels for the Zeiss 16-70 lens which would be a great addition.

To answer your question about using the Nikon lenses, yes you can. There are adapters out there that will allow you to use the Nikon lenses on the A6000 and still retain full automatic capabilities. Otherwise, you will need to set your camera to shutter priority or full manual modes.
Please give us a link to these adapters ! Because Nikon uses a mecahnical diaphram except for 3 of it's very newest lenses, NO adapter will give diaphram automation .....except maybe for those lenses
Go to the Metabones, Fotodiox or B+H websites and search for Nikon to Nex mount, or Sony E mount.

Your decision is do you want full frame or ASPC? I was looking at mirrorless to go lighter and smaller and looked at the Sony a7ii. What put me off was that though this camera was very light, when you add the great lenses that go with this camera it adds a lot of weight.
Several members of my camera club bought the a6000 and they all rave about it.
I settled on the Olympus OM D EM1 in the end. Its probably the heavier of the mirrorless and is 4:3. I'm still learning but love this camera.

For the price, the a6000 is IMHO absolutely unbeatable!
I ordered the Sony A6000 with the Sony 16-70 and 35 1.8 lenses. Should be a good combo
I just bought the a6000 today with the kit lens, I just posted my first photos with the A6000 on the photo section. I will buy a good lens for this camera. I also have the Nikon D810. But this looks like a keeper the price was amazing. I just could not justify the extra for the Sony full frame since on Friday I bought the Nikon 20mm 1.8 for my D810.

Yes it may be, but if you were to add all the extras that the em1 has for example, the price would be way more. The first deal breaker for me is the small viewfinder.

I think you will be happy with your choice.
Feedback from my camera club who bought this camera is that it took them a bit of learning and in fact they looked for more instructions online.
After a couple of outings they are all very happy with this camera. So allow yourself time to get used to it. Enjoy
I can't wait to get it. Will get it tomorrow. Am going to New Zealand in November.

I rented an A6000 and three lenses for a trip to Yosemite, and the a6000 was both user friendly and a producer of fine images.

Gives you plenty of time to learn your camera inside and out.
Try this:
http://friedmanarchives.com/alpha6000/index.htmGary Friedman is a Rocket Scientist and award winning photographer who is also the BEST 3rd party owners manual writer in the business.
His books are EXTREMELY well written; he covers every feature and function of your camera in GREAT detail using plain, common sense English. His explanations are easy to understand and his recommended settings make great common sense.
Beginners and experts alike learn how to use their gear better with Friedman's books, plus he gives you a 2 week satisfaction or your money back guarantee, so you can't lose.
Try it... you won't be sorry. ;)
