I thought of this for tonight - it rather sums up a lot of my heritage as well as what I hope will be my legacy. We were raised on faith and practicing what you believed, did a lot of singing or playing hymns and songs together, and our lives were, and are, deeply involved in church and caring about and for others. We laugh a lot, have lots of fun and friends and our house continues to have frequent guests - often from foreign countries, which explain my interests in geography, culture and travel. Through my camera lens, I became the family "documenter". This one image, I believe, "says" a lot.

Now there is a family and a half! Excellent series! It seems to me that we were always going to reunions too! It is what keeps us together. :-)

I have been very lucky in that although I had a large family on my mothers side, they often had reunions and always took pictures. The First is with my grandparents who had 13 children and the last is about 11 years ago with the last reunion.
Sorry #3 is out of sequence, didn't know how to correct it.

This is a picture of my mother and sisters and brothers and their spouse's. At Christmas time we have to rent a hall so we can all get together with all the family.
in the past I have done quite a bit of genealogy and I find its study fascinating. Some of my discoveries have lead me to documented events of American history. Many of my ancestors originally had made their homes in the British colonies in the United States, such as the Burt family from England, which I shall mention here . However with the events of the War of Independence many of my ancestors remained loyal to their British roots and made their way to Canada after the war as British Empire Loyalists.
I sometimes get quite addicted to genealogy and in 2009 I located this memorial to my 5th great grandparents; Philip Crouse and Sara Burt. It was in a country area at the back of a field alongside the Keswick River. This first poor quality photo I use only for documentation purposes. Please click on download to better view the words on the memorial.
The words on the memorial tell the tragic story of Sarah Burt's and my ancestral grandparents (Benjamin and Sarah Burt) when they were taken prisoner by Indians during the massacre at Deerfield , Massachusetts. Can you imagine the horror this woman endured and the strength and physical stamina she used to survive and overcome this ordeal?? Also the latter Sarah Burt; my 5th great grandmother gave birth to 18 children! How I admire the strength of these female ancestors of mine!

Within my ancestral line of heritage I have two of the original passengers upon the Mayflower! One of the most loved Early American romances is that of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins immortalized by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his poem" the courtship of Miles Standish".
Three of my grandchildren were thrilled a couple of thanksgivings ago to learn that their 12th great-grandparents, John Alden and Priscilla Mullins were passengers on the famous ship, the Mayflower. So last summer my son took his three children to Mass. to see the original Alden home at Duxbury, Mass. And while there in Mass. they also saw the replica of the Mayflower. These little grandchildren of mine are fascinated by genealogy and are very proud of their Mayflower ancestors and their heritage.

Seeing Richard's marvelous photographs and thinking of the wonderful heritage he has for his children, made me think of my heritage. Then I thought that my heritage is what made me me. Maybe i think too much, but as I look back at my photographs I see my heritage. I would like to see your heritage. I have found it very telling about who we are.
E Mang Thank you for hosting the challenge. Wonderful start.

Thank you Dane. This was truly a wonderful genealogical discovery for me and my family.
Nice family group, Clicker. Easy to see the thread of beautiful white hair. White hair is said to be a person's glory. Shows wisdom.
