I took this photo at Glacier. I noticed some white spots. I am wondering what they are. Are they "hot pixels"?
SS: 2 sec
F-10
ISO: 100
18-MM

I think they just look like specular highlights of light coming through branches.

Other than a few specular highlights on the dark rocks (easily removed in pp), I don't see any. Overall nice photo, but the upper falls highlights are not recoverable unfortunately. Very high dynamic range going on which could benefit from using HDR....

The rocks are wet and shiny, but there seem to be some bright spots on the rocks in areas that don't seem to be brightly lit. If they are stuck pixels, they will show up in every shot in exactly the same places.

What causes a stuck pixel?

Must be stuck pixels. I'm not sure but it might be a warranty issue if it's not expired.

Just in case they get funny about any work/replacement under the warranty, count the stuck pixels and make sure they know that you know how many there are. One of the bright spots looks as though it could be more than one pixel.

In the meantime, the white spots are very easily removed regardless if they are, in fact, dead pixels.

Thanks I read the article. I counted 26 and my ISO was 100. Maybe the longer exposure made them show uo.
