My heart is full of sorrow for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose such a respected and loved member of the family, especially one so loving he allowed costumes for Halloween. That made me smile.
My daughter had a cat, too, that she would dress up in her baby doll's clothes. She thought that was way more fun to have a kitty baby than a fake doll baby.
It's hard to see now, but those memories of good times, like costumes at Halloween, will be cherished in years to come, as well as all the love that he stored in your heart.
Very touching. It is such a hearbreaking experience to lose your pet ... enough said.
My heart goes out to your family. I DO know we were better for having had them in our lives.

I agree. Their loss is nearly as painful as a human one.

My heart goes out to you and your family. It is hard during these times...you have my sympathy.

My daughter got Tiger when she was 9 and she is 21. She just got home from university for the summer the week before last. He was being very loving with her and my wife. Then a few days ago he was very sick and having trouble breathing. They took him to two vets, a bunch of tests, heart trouble, fluid causing one lung to collapse. He seemed to be responding to the meds. She and I got home from the Tamron Tailgate Tour and after we ate she and Mom went to give him his meds. He was on our bed and having trouble breathing, he responded to her petting and purred for her one last time. Then he just stopped breathing. He waited for his Jasmine to get home so he could say he loved her and goodbye. She and my wife are huddled on the bed and Mom is trying to comfort her youngest over the loss of Tiger. He was a big cat, 18 lbs at one point, and not fat, just big, and gentle. He loved and cuddled, he put up with silly hats and costumes. He would lay still if he woke before her and her arm was around him. He was gentle with the other cats, and even the puppy we got 5 years ago. When Jasmine was at school he went to Mom, he would climb into her lap and just cuddle and love, he was doing it only a few days ago. He slept with Jasmine two nights ago.
Now he is gone, and our baby is crying, well, so am I.
Here are a few pictures from those years of love and play. About 6 or 7.
