B&H has a deal on Lexar USB 3.0 reader. Only 2 slot. I just ordered a backup.

Right. The OP is looking for a good card reader. I recommended what I consider the best. No pins to bend, no way to damage the card. The miniature plug on the cord only fits into the camera one way. One would have to be a ham-handed klutz to damage anything.

I don't think we are communicating. I have a Canon 5D Mark III and when I download images, I remove the memory card from the camera and put it into the card reader. Nothing is connected to the camera at this point . I'm having trouble understanding what plug you're talking about that would go into the camera if you're using a card reader. It sounds as if you're talking about downloading images from the card while it's still in the camera. If you use a CF card (the larger memory cards), there are pins in the card reader that go into the CF card. These are what can be easily bent on some card readers. Am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

I mean that when the camera is connected to the computer VIA the USB cord, the computer becomes the card reader. I consider this to be preferable to removing and reinserting the card twice each time images are downloaded.

Ok. Understand what you're saying. I don't disagree with your logic. In my case, my card reader downloads images to my computer faster than my computer can do on its own (By plugging in the camera to the computer). But, my computer may be the problem in my case.
