I do not back up anything, anywhere, for any reason and keep 100% of my digital images and programs on the main drive of my desktop.
So when my computer crashed this evening i applied all of my considerable computer skills to getting it running again
I failed, calmly accepted the fact that all my images were gone forever, and leaned back to enjoy a cigarette.
Couldn't reach the ashtray and in moving it discovered it was setting on the numeric keyboard enter key.
Thats right folks. turned the power back on and i'm running again.
(PS i dumped 14 pages of empty comment posts on someones thread while it was misbehaving, hope he doesn't mind)
Good Catch! But now that you experienced that "sinking" feeling, maybe now is the time for an external hard drive.
The computer gods may be telling you something.

That would do it! Good philosophical attitude, but that would be a sad loss. Luck doesn't always strike twice.
I hope that scared the crap out of you, OT. But a MyBook that you can connect to your modem that will automatically back up any change to your computer.
I'm not sure how it's done...my son had three MyBooks connected in series to the modem. He thought I was archaic backing my files up manually.

Good idea. I've had things sitting on the Enter key and producing similar strange results.
I quit smoking 33 years and I will never go back but I don't preach to people about it. I do hope you can quit your family and even us Hogs care. I am glad you were able to get your photos back.

I've done dumb s*** like that too. Leaving something touching a key and the whole computer acts nuts and scaring me half to death.
