On my monitor the flowers look fine and the colours, while being a bit strong, don't look blown. If you were posting this as an example of blown channels, I think that it must be your monitor that's causing your problems, as suggested by others.
The flowers look a bit soft in parts but not blown. The details and texture of petals can be like that sometimes - a mixture of areas of fine but clearly visible details and softer smoother areas.
If it turns out that it's not your monitor and the shots just need a bit of tweaking in PP, you'll find that the HSL tool will be the best way to adjust the brightness, saturation and hue of individual colours. Just remember that darkening colours strengthens them and lightening them weakens them.

Color is purely subjective. One might argue(suggest) that a photograph is merely a representation of the scene. No photo will ever be an exact copy of the subject. In fact your left eye sees color differently than your right. You can tweak this thing or that, but never expect perfection.
Right on! Let's stop fooling around with theory and start making good pictures. Theory is nice to learn. But after that we need to make beautiful pictures.
Heck, the only reason I use a histogram is to see if I have my blacks right and I'm not blowing out the highlights.
A bit overexposed and definitely in need of corrected WB. This is an excellent capture. You can adjust WB in Camera raw or Lightroom

In shooting flowers, I'm struggling with getting accurate colours, especially with purples and reds. See the attached for instance. Additionally, these colours tend to blow out details. Any advice? I've tried to adjust in post processing

thanks. this is a great online community! I will go back in to both Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop and see if I can replicate these corrections

Rick, did I go in a direction you were hoping for?
There are lot of tutorials on
www.Retouchpro.com for this very thing, and lots of other things you will probably encounter in the future or may already have in your collection of images. You will find more than one approach for clipped colors and blown highlights. Though your highlights were fine.
