An interview with BeaverNewby,
1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I have been lusting for a good camera for over 44 years. A 35mm Petri w/55mm lens.
2) Do you have any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
No, just a love for seeing what others have done especially exotic locales. In general I like to try it all.
3) In your opinion, what makes a good picture stand out from the rest?
Good imaginative lighting produces the magic.
4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup? Can you walk us through it?
This image was quite challenging but lots of fun to try. I took lots of trials frames
to get rid of the reflections. I waited on till it was dark outside, cut off all room lights, used cardboard light reflectors, lot of trials moving the flashes around.
5) Do you post process your final images, and if so can you describe your workflow?
Only when I have to! I am working on capturing the moments but I do shoot raw, use Capture NX-D to crop, straighten, scale, adjust exposure, tonal balance, white balance, save as tiff. Photoshop if needed, convert to JPG.
6) Who or what has influenced your photography and what inspired you to take your winning shot?
This Photography Forum and looking at all the great work that others are doing. Trying every thing.
7) Would you change anything if you could do it again, and if so what?
Invest in a good camera sooner!
8) What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?
To take more Pictures.
9) What is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?
My Computer for storing them.
10) If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
11) What lighting equipment, if any, do you take on a shoot?
My Altura TTL Auto flashes(2) and Umbrellas.
12) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Play better Golf! The Photo challenges are gobbling up my practice time.
