I read most of the post's about using film now and then and am wondering who on here never has used film?
hi Don,
i expect you will get a large number of folks who never used film, but grew up in the digital realm. it will be interesting to see, how this goes....

evidently no one on this site, at least so far!!!
Not a "no film" person, but here's my story: My intro to photography & cameras was being a college kid in 1970 working part-time at a Fox Photo store in Columbia, Mo.
"Overnight processing" was the big revolution in printmaking, where we sent print & slide film to the main lab in St Louis & it came back finished early-early next AM.
I handled literally thousands of rolls of all types & sizes of Kodak, Agfa, & later, Fuji film.
Sold lotsa Canons, Nikons, Rollei's and even a few high-end Leica's & Hassy's. Some of those had "spiffs" on them of extra commission money which might pay me a week's extra pay at my $ 2.25/hr part-time wage.
Was a Canon (FTb) guy, myself, but don't want to kick anybody's dog on that Canon Vs Nikon issue. Now I use a Nikon digital. Times change.

Don,
An interesting question, but what difference will it make?
If a member used film successfully before digital arrived, and now use digital, the functions are much the same.
If you got the basics down pat in film, they all transfer well to digital.
You have got to know, understand, and use the basics of 'Photography' before you can take anything more than snapshots.
Your answer: Since 1948 and a Kodak Brownie Box camera and a roll of 120 B&W film.

A 60" projection screen, some fellow snap shooters, a couple hundred of your latest kodachromes and a bottle of Walker Red.
A great way to spend an evening.

Your right....I haven't looked at them for years.
I have the screen and the Leitz projector and all.
Have a cabinet has the booze in it also.
I suspect that most old film people are better at getting exposure and composition right in the camera. Back then you couldn't be sure what you got until it came back from the processor. today you take a look at the back of the camera and can decide right away to either keep or delete it. And if it's not quite there, that's why God made computer's! I find myself it's really nice to know right away what I got and then make change's if I want to. Digital has made me some what lazy!

Don, the average age here is about 75!!
What do YOU think?!?!
You'd get a much more lively conversation if you ask, "when is the last time you used a slide rule and for what?!?!".
