First shot with Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary

This is a jpg from the RAW file, no crop, no adjustments of any kind. Canon 7D (crop) so that 600mm is 900mm equivalent. Auto focus was not blazing, but not slow either. fast lock in.

This weekend hopefully will get to give it a real workout. The picture is low light, camera sitting on patio table, timed shutter. The jpeg was run through jpegmini and brought down from orig 11M to around 2M.

Definitely plays on the same field as my Canon L series 100-400mm

Well no it wasn't true motion blur. I realize that I did not turn off the IS. fully exploded that looks like the blur caused by IS trying to remove some motion that doesn't exist.

I've got the same lens for my Canon 60D. Haven't tried it yet because it's been raining and I haven't gotten out.

Do you hand-hold or mount on a tripod/monopod?

see my new posting about Sigma lens. All details are in that post. This was merely a test to see if everything functioned after opening the box.

This will be my last post on UGH...which is too bad.

The Admin has decided I am the undesirable in this issue. For calling 'Jim Quist' a lying, libelous sonuvabitch for making that remark. I have never used any such handle as 'artgrandpa', I have never taken no claimed as my own, anyone elses photos. Any photo I have ever posted over all the years I can provide the RAW file of. It now becomes necessary to evaluate the worth of a site which would allow direct libel from one of its members against another, not only allow it but defend him(it). I submit that people such as that are not to be intentionally associated with. So for the many really good, honest people on here I recommend you use extreme caution, such libelous statements against you can have long time effects. I am old, so I don't care, and I have hard proof against the libel....do you?

Thank you.

how about you read the comment that prompted that? So someone is not allowed to get angry when someone else calls them a thief? You better rethink your priorities!

I am not nor ever have been someone known as 'artgrandpa'. I have never stolen pictures from anyone. Every single picture I post on the net can be backed up with the RAW original file.

I will not tolerate a place that allows members to libel other members. Which do you prefer the libelous ones, or the honest ones. Your decision. Remember this reflects directly upon this sites reputation.
Please respond with any actions you have or will take.

You must have a terrible time when receiving a ticket from a cop.

No problem. I fully understand that you cannot grasp the difference between the cause and the effect. In fact I see where it might be easier for you to recognize a rather mild curse as opposed to an outright illegal statement. such as a libel. Many years ago I was a volunteer helper for Special Ed kids, I am am happy to see that at least one of you is working on the Net.

That did not occur to me, and will also cause "comma" streaking of point light reflections.
