tornado's 3/4 of a mile away

These are some pictures about 3/4 of a mile from my house. My wife and I were cowarding in the cellar of a mile from our house. They keep getting closer and closer to us. We received 6 1/2 inches of rain in three hours, about 2 inches an hour. If I could move I would. I dislike the area we live in.

I grew up in Kansas. I remember many hours spent in the concrete shelter at the neighbors house. I don't miss that one bit!

What part of Oklahoma?
My brother is in OKC.
My wife rescued me from there 25 years ago, but it's gotten a lot better since I left...other than the weather.

I did in 19175. I dodged a few big Earthquakes, but never the herrendous waiting in the basement we did as Newlyweds in Dubuque, Iowa.

Bless you and your neighbors.

It is SE 44th and I-35. It didn't stay on the ground very long but tore down the storage building that housed 1,000 units, a trailer park behind that and the motel that was a home to a lot of people. It's getting to where the storms here are bigger and violent each year. There were at least 17 tornado's drop down out of that storm which are a lot even for Oklahoma. I am fine but any prayers for the less fortunate would be appreciated. A lot of peoples life was disrupted in that tornado. The photos don't show all of the damage and they have cleaned up some what when I took those pictures. People were lined up wanting to help clean up and do back breaking work in cleaning and searching the rubble. That is what Oklahoma's do in the time of need. There were hundreds of people from ten to eighty years old wanting to help. There are some good people working from sun up to sun down nothing in return but a smile or even a tear. There was supplies and bottled water for all. Oklahoma is known for people coming from a couple of hundred miles paying their own way to help.
All prayers are needed. Thanks for all of you who help in praying.

I used to live about 2 miles east of that intersection!
The people there will give you the shirt off their backs when it comes down to this.
Take care.

Glad you're ok! I lived in Souther IL for a few years when active duty Air Force and had several twister near and around us but luckily never had one hit our house.

Bushymonster, nothing will strike fear in someone like hearing and seeing a tornado heading your way. Even watching a tornado several miles distance from you will send a chill down your back. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Tejaswrangler :)

But what about earthquakes, mud slides and ground fires?

I notice your location is "in hiding". Well, if you live in the Midwest I understand. That's one of the reasons we left Kansas about 12 years ago, that and the snow, ice, cold and yuk in winter.

As I mentioned they are getting stronger and more violent every time they come through. I have lived in Oklahoma for 61 years and love Oklahoma City but my house is in the wrong part of town. The pictures I uploaded were after a lot of cleanup. I love my wife more and if I can get us into another part of town I would but our finatual status won't let us move at the present time so it's a mouse and cat thing. We will continue to hide from them and hope we don't get a direct hit. Thanks to everyone asking if we are alright.

As I mentioned they are getting stronger and more ... (show quote)

I spent 22 years living in Kansas where I met my wife just north of Wichita. In all those years, except for television, I never saw a tornado, not one.

Yes OKC is a very bad spot... so many have done so much damage. I can just see my State Farm agent cringe every time a house goes down.

Good luck and I hope you have a better road on the way.
