Yes, please, this is the only way for folks to learn from anyone.

Sorry, there was a double post.

Thank you everyone. The Glass, ice cubes , whatever you wanna call it was more of a "girly" thing being my neice calls them "her crystals" i was thinking in that sorts and the blocks were just what i had used because that is what i had with me at the time. At the time i didn't notice the blocks so i just didn't know if there was a way i could cover them or take them away or what i could do (without re-shooting). I am very new to all of this ive only had my camera since july. i have photoshop Elements 8 as i have no idea anything about that but i am trying to learn a little at a time.
i see now i have posted this photo in the wrong topic.
Thank you for all of your time in helping me see things differently. and also thank you to Jack and Photogrl you did a wonderful job. -English Wolf as far as edits/ pp ive did nothing so that is why i thought i could come to UHH for some help on what to do :)

Err... Light room i a subset of Photo shop Element which is a subset of Photo Shop we all love to hate.

The new Photoshop Lightroom has some interesting controls (to say the least) but is far from being capable of replacing Photoshop Element.

One of the prime difference is the use of Layers in Element that you do not have in Lightroom. THAT is the heart of the problem. No layers = limited editing, anyway you look at it.

Don't spend your money as when the new Element comes out, you can upgrade and likely gain Lightroom new menus and adjustment controls WITH layers.

Then there is the free GIMP who is a direct competitor to Photoshop on the digital photography area but... HELLO LEARNING CURVE!!! (Well documented thought)

Since you have elements 8 .. I did this in elements for you so I could explain the process.

1. Open the photo ... ctrl/j to make a copy layer of it.
(always work on a copy.)
2. Use the quick selection tool (it's below the magic wand in the tools pallette) Drag that tool over the shoes and the flower to select it. Be sure to get the crystals that are on the toes. If you accidentally select the blocks as well just hold the alt button and drag the tool over that area .. (holding the alt will takes away from the selection)
3. When you are satisfied that you have the shoes and flower selected ... do a ctrl/j to make a copy layer of just that selection.
4. Deselect that top layer (hide it) by clicking on the eye icon next to it. (that will turn the layer off .. making it not visible)
5. Go back to the middle layer by clicking on it to select it.
Using the same quick selection tool .. drag it over the crystals starting on the left side .. select all of them except the ones by the toes ... keep dragging all the way till you are a little bit past the right shoe .. Then do a ctrl/j to make a copy layer of the crystals.
6. Get the move tool .. it's the arrow at the top of the tools pallete (the 1st tool) and put your cursor over the crystals and drag them up to cover the blocks.
7. Then go to the top layer and turn it back on by clicking on the eye icon agan to make it visible.
8. If you are happy with the way it looks .. go to the layers menu/ flatten image.

You can stop here ... or if you want to clean up the fibers etc. You will need to use the clone stamp. It's the rubber stamp looking tool.

Cloning can be a bit tricky and it's easy to make it look fake. What you have to do is click on the clone stamp tool .. then hold the alt button and use your mouse to zoom in until the photo is almost pixelated ... I went to 150% ... go up to the top of the page and make sure you choose a small size ... no larger than 20 pixels.

The way the clone stamp works is you choose an area real close to what you are trying to remove .. hold the alt and click there .. release the alt and click on the object you want to remove .. (doing this will replace the object with whatever color is where you originally chose)
Do tiny bits at a time .. you will have to reselect colors as you go by holding the alt and clicking on a spot then continuing to remove objects. You just want to keep in mind that whatever spot you choose that is what will be placed there .. also keep in mind the distance between where you choose the color and where you are working because as you move your cursor to remove something the spot chosen will always be the same distance away.
You just have to be patient .. work slowly and deliberately... and choose different areas often.
Don't be afraid to PM me if you have any questions.

Oh yeah if you mess up an area .. just go to the edit menu/undo .. that will step backwards and remove the last thing you did :)

done in elements

photogrl57 - I love what you did to this photo. To my mind it was imaginative and clever and I really would like to know what programme you used and how you did it. Would it be asking too much.........?

Great job. :)

Question though? Why not remove that shadow in the lower left of the composition, while editing?

Just curious.
