Loki, I'll be visiting Alaska this coming September. Can you elaborate on the settings used to take photographs shown? and can you also indicate what are the best times to view the Northern Lights?
Thanks
I used a Nikon d300 with Sigma 28-70 2.8. Most of the shots were about 5 to 15 sec ex poser. My f stop was set 2.8. I was not happy with the shots but was not sure what was wrong. English Wolf Said shooting at 2.8 has to shallow D O F. I believe he is right so shooting more like f8 and longer exposer would be better. You must use a tripod and I use a remote to keep everything steady.
Next winter should be a good year for the Northern Lights. You might see some in sept. but later in the winter is better. Here is a link for forecasts .alaska.edu/AuroraForecast Good luck.
