I didn't get started on it until 6pm . My brother and I were outside all day working on preparing the ground for a new work shop we are going to build as soon as the zoning permit is approved . I only had time to spend 2 1/2 hrs on it tonight . I hope it meets with your approval . If you don't like something about it , let me know , and I will see what I can do when I get time . It may look different on your monitor then mine . Mine is calibrated using Spyder 4 Elite . I also cropped it to a 8 by 10 photo size ..Going to rain the next couple of days any ways . Tommy

Tommy! Your work is amazing! I am baffled at how you accomplished this! You, and Bill and SonyA580, who have also worked arduously at this, are truly gifted. Thank you so much. I can manage to add a background and surprise everyone!

In fact, I'll do that with all the images and send them to my cousins...they'll love 'em all!

Again, thanks so much!

I tried to recover as much detail as possible in the face. But, the image appears to have been a little soft at the start, and then the damage made it even more of a challenge. Removing the spots individually with cloning and healing is very time consuming, but the results are a little better than the mush returned on the skin when the "Dust and Scratches" filter takes out the spots in mass. I ended up using a combination of the two.
I added a little noise at the end because the image was so soft.

I guess this image got the best of me. Sorry, but I have not seen a satisfactory restoration yet (and that includes mine). Maybe, it can't be saved. I would enjoy viewing a really good restoration, if any of our members have the artistic skills needed.

Rick. Thank you so much for working on this as well. You've done a marvelous job and I can only wish I had half the skills demonstrated by you and the others who worked on this! You were able to restore the skin texture/tones perfectly!

I am adding your download to the collection and I think I will just offer all the contributions to the family and let each person chose their favorite restoration!

Again, I thank you for your time and patience. You've all been so helpful!

Caranx, I opened the jpeg in bridge and selected open in ACR. I made minor adjustments here and then opened in CS5. I used the Healing and Spot Healing Brush Tools to start removing the paint. I hope this helps, it looks like Bill is doing a much better job. Good luck, Gary

Gary ...that is awesome! Thanks for helping and i see the difference. And yes, I've spent a few hours doing and undoing corrections but hoped there was a "quick fix". I certainly wouldnt want to tie up too much of anyone's time! Can i ask how/ what you did? Thanks

wow, there are some really talented people working on your behalf. just be glad someone took a picture, because in this day and age, the younger won't have anything to hold on to because everything is on their cell phones, unless they download. very nicely done, everyone. we sure have a good group of people on this site. deb

Good morning everyone. Just a big thank you to all who worked so diligently on this for me, a total stranger! All the results were beyond what I thought possible and, to echo Deb a hundredfold, you are amazingly talented! I ordered prints of all the restorations last night and am mailing hard copies to the family. We're all "old school" so I'm sure they'll be put in a photo album or a frame!! Again, a big thank you to all and I hope someday I can reciprocate in some way.

Haha! Let me know...I always have Blue Mountain, Red Stripe and the grill ready! Like Columbus, I was looking for Atlantis and "discovered" Atlanta 20+ years ago and pitched a tent! Thanks again...y'all!!
