Lilith was Adams first wife. She was quite an independent sort, whom Adam could not get to lay down for him (have sex) on command.

She is mentioned in the Jewish Bible. -Isaiah 34:14, "The first and only mention of Lilith in canonical scripture is found in Isaiah 34:14 which reads as follows:

Wildcats shall meet with
hyenas,
goat-demons shall call to each other;
there too Lilith shall
repose,
and find a place to rest."

A she-devil she was, according to early Jewish mythology. Adam and Eve in Genesis is also early Hebrew mythology.

Her defiance and independence and equal status to Adam came from Lilith being formed from dust exactly like how Adam was formed. They were equals in that respect, but the Bible does not include details about Lilith, as women were subservient back then, and who would likely believe the Bible if a domineering, independent and head-strong woman was in charge.

So, only the Adam and Eve scenario (myth) made it to the Bible. Since Eve came from only a small part of Adam's anatomy (one of Adam's ribs), Eve could not be his equal. She was designed to be subservient, as was believed women should be back then.

So many interesting stories were left out of the Bible. Man was left to read what the men who wrote the Bible wanted man, the mortal, to read. Remember that it was men, not a-God who wrote the Bible.

Maybe a transgender, like Eve, the adorned sex-changed rib of Adam?

Wow, one never stops learning. I was under the impression that we evolved from some type of primate in Africa, that was a negroid man who over thousands of years migrated to all parts of the earth, where they further evolved into the diverse range of peoples that inhabit it now. Handful of dust sounds much more plausible!

I was of that same impression, but others on UHH say I am wrong, and they get very angry when the word "evolved" is mentioned.

Yes, 'evolution' fits very well, too.

When you stop and think about it, it is prudent to conclude that Eve had to have been the first transgender.

In the beginning, Eve was genetically identical to Adam, as rib cells are genetically identical to those other ribs and the person's tissue cells from which ribs come.

So, I really do not understand what all the fuss about gays, gay weddings, etc. is all about, since it was God that made the very first transgender, which was first a man and then a woman, all made by God. Makes sense to me, anyway.

Thanks for posting this. I don't believe I had ever heard of the story of Lilith before. I did a little more digging and found this link. http://witcombe.sbc.edu/eve-women/7evelilith.html

It would appear that Lilith is known by a number of cultures and not surprisingly under a few names. One of them is Laylah which got me thinking about Eric Clapton's song Layla. Well wouldn't you know it that his song has some roots in a Persian poem “The story of Layla and Manjun” . Laylah translates as "night" and Manjun as "madman".
http://ericclaptonlayla.com/layla/ The fact that Clapton attributes this song to his best friend, George Harrison's wife seems to capitalize on Lilith's divisive nature.

Not exactly. The story of Lilith shows that she is created as Adam's equal. Eve, then is created to "serve and obey", so not exactly his equal. Lilith's whole story really seems to smack of elements of Taming of the Shrew. Doesn't Katherina seem to be the Lilith at the beginning of the play and Eve by the end of it?

If Adam & Eve were made from clay and the breath of god, not born of woman, why would they have a navel?

Now artz...I will give you the benefit of your doubts.... IF God made Adam and Eve He apparently gave them everything that he wanted them to have in the physical realm.... Maybe he sat back and said...HUMMMMM something is missing...OH..I see, it is that little dimple in their belly...No Problem I can change that PFITTTTTT there ya go, it now is right..

You are welcome, and interesting what you found. Maybe you know this, too, that there was a "Lilith" on the TV series Cheers, whose character was based on Lilith in the Bible. She played the psychiatrist's (Dr. Frasier Crane's) wife (Dr. Lilith Sternin-Crane), who was also portrayed as a professional in the series.
