Very nice shots Dennis. I've really been enjoying the results I'm getting with my 800. You may want to give yours a try.
I will probably do that after I come back from vacation and set a camera up for macro again. The one thing I do like about the D7000 is it is a lighter weight camera. With the flash, L grip and diffuser attached it all becomes somewhat unwieldy for macro and heavier than I would like. I have toyed with the idea of going with what Douglass uses and that is a smaller body, maybe along the lines of the D5000 series just for the lighter weight.

Have you noticed a much better image quality with the D800 over your previous camera?

I don't know if I would say "better" but, it seems to be a little more forgiving if I don't have my settings just right. The D800 has slightly less pixel density than my D7100 but, they seem to be more capable (if you will). I seem to be getting a much higher keep rate and crop quality with the D800. I have not intentionally run a side by side be comparison so my experience is very inconclusive. I'm not using the D7100 much anymore, but perhaps I should.

Between the weight of the 150mm macro lens and speedlight, I don't notice much difference in weight.
I was merely suggesting that you try it and see what you think

I appreciate your information. When I get back from my trip and set up my macro camera again I will hook it all up to the D800 to see how it does. Thanks.

Please let me know what you think once you give it a good run. I have my sights set on the D810 and need to decide if the D800e or D7100 gets the boot as I'm only allowing myself two cameras at a time.
