I love my pixma 100. On Amazon there is a 3rd party ink at less than half the price. I haven't used it yet. I use Canon Paper. When you register the Pixma sign up for their emails. I just got 180 sheets (9 packs) of Canon 13x19 inch glossy for $100. (buy 1 get 2 free, plus free shipping).

I used that cheap ink from Amazon and it ruined my printer and ended up costing me much more than the Canon ink would have.

I have one and it renders excellent photos. Cartridges are expensive but colors come out excellent.

I take the train. 35 minutes, $13.00 (Senior Citizen Rate) round trip

$13 for a 35 minute train ride (70 minutes if you count round trip)? Is that in the gold plated coaches with emerald inlays? We put people on the moon cheaper than that!!!

Does that Canon printer use 'archival' inks like the Epsons do. Organic inks have a tendancy to fade. Epson claims, or they once did, 99 years for their inks of 10 or so years ago.

I have the Pixma Pro-1 printer and am very pleased with it. I use a HP 8600 4-in-1 for everyday use or where I don't need quality photo printouts.

Hello Ray, I have the Pro 100 and love it to death.
Like anything new, a little experimentation and you'll get the hang of it quickly.

I've had HP, Epson and Canon printer's and nothing has pleased me even remotely as Canon. Claiming Epson is the standard just depends on who your talking to!

I'll say. The Canon PIXMA Pro-1 is a piece of junk.
I switched to Epson.

Congrats to you. You will really like it. I hope you have a big desk or table to put it in.

Nice cat. We have had many grey cats. The first one was smart as a whip. I even named my antiques business after him. The others are half a sandwich short of a picnic basket, although one of them was a great killer. He even took down bats that got in the house.

I use the HP130NR for smaller prints and the Epson Pro 9600 for larger work. Pro results require Pro equipment.

I have also been using an HP130NR for everything for the last 10 years. I have no need for printing larger than 24 inches wide. It is a great trouble-free printer and I think it will outlast me.

What's the price range on those, MT? They might not be the same as the OP's. I'll admit, ink cartridge costs are what keep me away from printers. I'd rather have mine printed.

it doesn't cost any more to run my 9000 MKII than it did my 8 1/2" printer's. But you will surely print bigger photo's and that will take more ink.

Cost me per 13x19" photo, $1.06 for a sheet of 13x19 paper and $2.47 for ink. that's 247 sq inch's time's .01 per inch. 13 x 19 for $3.53, where you gonna beat that? It's worth more to me just watching the print come out of the printer.

Pixma Pro 100 from B&H, probably Adorama too, $399 with free shipping.
