D7200 is in my hands. Lightroom doesn't like RAW files

When trying to import 12-bit RAW files, I get an error to check for updates, my LR 5.7 is up to date. Does anybody know if I get the newest ACR if it will read these files? If not, LR6 is right around the corner. I did want to see how my lenses are performing on the new body. I may have to revert to JPG for a short while. Thanks in advance for any help.

I do not think you can update ACR in Lightroom, only in Photoshop. Lightroom is built with ACR, so Version 6 is your only hope.

If Adobe puts out a dng converter sooner with support for the D7200 then you could go that route till Lightroom 6 comes out.

LR is supposed to be ACR independent so make sure you have the latest update to LR. Or Adobe may be pushing you toward the Creative Cloud which is a pretty good deal but require connectivity to use.

The penalty you pay for being on the cutting edge of new equipment is that secondary vendors have to catch up with software after the final non beta product is released. Since the camera maker can make changes until the date of release no software from aftermarket vendors can be finalized until after the product is on the market. You always have the option of using the provided NEF Raw converter, then export as a TIFF to Lightroom.

Not quite - Lightroom is built around ACR, so there is no plugin to update.

When you go into the develop module you are running ACR, but with a different interface on it.

5.7.1 is the latest Lightroom, but Lightroom 6 is due out any day - will it support a D7200 raw? Possibly not right away.

I tried the 14-bit RAW also, no luck. I also downloaded the latest DNG converter, version 8.8. It added D5500 support, but not D7200. I'm sure it's a question of waiting a short time. This is the fun that comes from being an early adopter. Never buy version 1.0, I'm a computer guy, I should know that!

And there is no CD or DVD. I'm going to check and see if Nikon has a download for their software.

I had the same issue when I bought the D7100 out of the gate.... I was using Aperture at the time and was able to convert using Adobe's DNG converter until Apple updated their Digital Camera Raw engine a few weeks/months later.

If Lightroom 6 does not support it right off I am sure an update will follow soon.

I would hope they have a new version of VIEW NX2 and/or Capture NX-D that supports the new camera.

Hmmm... View NX-I - thats new....

New camera, no time yet for code writers to update. Use the disk that came with the camera to load Canon's RAW converter and then work with them. When LR5 upgrades or you go to LR6 you can then delete the Canon converter.

Just to be clear. You need connectivity to GET it, not to USE it.

Until Adobe/LR catches up, How about using the version of View NX2 that shipped with your D7200 (also available for free download from Nikon) for your RAW processing?

If you can stop laughing long enough to read this.
Ignore the first of the double posts above.
I typed Canon instead of Nikon. hit edit, corrected, and both versions appeared, one after the other. Didn't notice, went off to do some chores. Came back saw the double post. Hit edit to make note about my screw up and after I was done it failed to post.
I think my computer is hinting it needs the weekend off.

Hmmm... looks like View NX-I is a front end for Capture NX-D, similar to Adobe Bridge. I find no info on what cameras it supports yet though.
