Neither teleconverter will work completely with that lens. The Tamron will attach and function as long as you don't zoom below the 35mm Mark on the lens. When you do, you will get a lens communication error and you may need to power down the camera, set the zoom greater than 35mm, and turn the camera back on. The Canon TC will not attach physically to the 24-105mm lens.

My suggestion, use a prime or a high end zoom if you plan on using a teleconverter.

You CAN'T use a Canon extender on the 24-105!
There is only one current version, the mklll.
There are 2 older discontinued versions. The original 1.4x then it was replaced by the mkll quite a few years ago. Now replaced again with the mklll about 2years ago. Nothing wrong with the mkll.
The mklll is optimized for the newer electronics and the sharper mkll lenses.
I know nothing of the 3rd party extenders. ;-)

PS, the color of the white lenses changes from generation to generation. The color of the extenders match the respective lens generation perfectly, but not the the other generations. If it's important to you!

SS,

You pretty much nailed it with a Canon TC's. I often use the Tamron 1.4 X TC. It will fit and work on most Canon lenses, at least the L lenses. I have had no problems using the Tamron, in fact I have been very pleased with it.

The Canon converter is not designed optically for the 24-105. I would say do not use it for that, rather invest in a good lens in the 70-200mm range for the dollars spent or a bit more.
Likely the quality of the image would be less than satisfactory. If you must rent it first and see if you are happy with the results. Or if a camera store is around with one try it in the store.

TCs are not really made for that range of lenses even if it did fit.

They are best suited for fast telephoto lenses.
