Excellent capture Jim, I'm glad I wasn't there I have a morbid fear of snakes.

That is definitely not a good fear to have Jim but I know so many folks that do. BTW Sylvia is not one of them, she was standing right down on the bank taking pictures also. Thanks my friend for the visit and the comment. :-D :-D

Great shot! I'm glad you noticed him while you were still 15' away so he didn't feel the need to show you his dental work.

Thanks DobiePower and 15 feet was as close as I wanted to be at the time. Really appreciate you stopping by and the nice comment. :-D

They also make snake proof boots and leggings and pants not to mention the ones made for weedeating and stuff like that.
The choices are just as deep as one's pocket is.

Thanks Dooragdragon, and if one is slogging through the swamp or the glades any and all of that is appropriate attire. Thanks for the visit and nice comment. :-D

Nice job with this one, Jim, it's very well done. Even snakes have to eat, and since they're chronically low on funds, can't point a finger at him for not being at McDonald's.

Thanks Randy, you're right about their place in the natural world and McDonald's would probably poison them anyway. Only we humans have the constitution for fast food dontcha know. Really appreciate your visit and comment my friend. :-D

Thanks so much Alan; yeah these guys are pretty nasty especially when surprised. We have four native poisonous species here in the U.S. and all of them live right here where I live, so we always must be careful when out and about. I appreciate your visit and comment my friend. :-D

LOL now Sylvia I would never tell tales on a new buddy but he did seem to be carrying your bags a bit further away that time. Gonna get real cold tonight my friend so you guys stay warm when you go out tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and the nice comment as well as the thumbup. :-D :-D

While on our short photo jaunt with Sylvia and Bob, we ran across one of the more dangerous denizens of the Florida Swamps. Although camouflaged with water plant seeds and weeds, this water moccasin was poised to grab any unsuspecting bird or mammal at the waters edge. He was a safe distance from us about 15 feet away. Please try the download.
Looks non-poisonous to me. My snake book "mug shot" looks quite different.
