Today I figured it would be a good day to make a list of my camera gear. I have a lot of this stuff and do not always remember what I have. And for insurance it is also good to have a list with some basic info and serial numbers.

So I started with my lenses. And I am already at lens number 45 in my collection and about half way through. Will be interesting to see on which side of 100 lenses I will stop counting.

Is this typical for you folks here on UHH, to have that much of camera gear?

Well, I don't have quite as many as you do. I am around 30.

But that includes:

1) My totally manual M42 collection - I love those old lenses and I have my fair share. I just love the smoothness of the focusing. This includes a number of prime lenses including many Pentax Takumar SMC lenses such as 50mm, 200mm, 300mm and 500mm, and a few other odd and ends.

2) I shoot Sony, and I have my Minolta collection left over from, and added to, my old Minolta Maxxum days which included the Maxxum 7000. I must have 10 or 12 Minolta AF lenses including the classic Beer Can.

3) A collection of newer lenses for the Sony bodies which includes Sony, Tamron and Sigma.

4) And a collection of E-mount lenses too.

And I wouldn't want to part with any of them. There are days I just want to use the old M42 lenses. And days I want the new stuff.

Do you mean currently in use, or do you include old retired stuff also, such as film camera gear that might be kept for nostalgia's sake?

In my active pool that would be 6 that I carry as a default, 2 to 3 get used for most occasions, 4 more for specific purposes, and a couple more that will join the optional pool later this year.

Oh, and I'm just an amateur playing around...., but 10 for now....,

That's all Canon EOS capable stuff, no other brands or older film stuff...

I do keep a list of serial numbers etc....

JPL, certainly not typical of me.
Compared to you, my cupboard is completely bare!!
My most used lens is my 24-105L
My least used lens is my 85 1.8. :-(
I get rid of anything that I don't use. No antiques here!

One body (D600 Nikon) , and 4 (Nikon) lenses . 24/2.8 , 50/1.8 , 85/1.8, 70-300 forget the aperture but it's not fixed. My favorite as for best results is the 85 (it's an vintage one with aperture ring just like my 24mm) but when I'm indoors I am forced to use the 24&50mm due to lack of space. I do use all four but the 70-300 gets used the least. It still gets used enough that I do feel I need it too, though.
